The Leave Request is for Administrators and Classified Exempt employees. Classified Hourly employees show their leave on their time sheets.
If you have access to the Leave Request, it will show in the menu:

Select Leave/List to show any leave requests you have in the current fiscal year.
Select Leave/Request to add a new leave request. The screen will look like this:

Select the leave reason, most of the time, it will be either General or Vacation. Then click on the calendar to chose the dates for your leave. You can only chose dates in the current fiscal year. Hold down the SHIFT key to select a range of dates or hold down the CTRL key to select multiple dates, then click on each one. The dates will automatically show in the '*Dates:' section.
The page will automatically calculate 8 hours per selected day. If the time should be less, just change the number in Hours of Leave. If the absence spans multiple days, the system will post 8 hours per day until the Hours are used. This means that if you are gone for 4 hours on one day, and then the next day for 8 hours, you need to add 2 leave requests, one for 4 hours on the first day, and another for 8 hours the next day.

Type in any notes for your supervisor and then click the **Submit** button. The appovals area will be added at the top of the screen.

At this point, the Leave Request is saved, but not routed to your supervisor for approval. You can make changes, if necessary. Once the Leave Request is correct, then click on **Submit Approval** and the Leave Request will be routed to your supervisor. The status of the Leave Request will change from **Originated** to **In Process**.
Your supervisor may Reject or Approve your leave. In either case you will get an email telling you what action has been done. If it is Rejected, you may make changes to it and **Submit Approval** again.
Once your supervisor has approved your request, the status will show as **Approved**, and it will be waiting for the Payroll Department to post. They post any leave requests that happened during the last pay period when they run the payroll, so your leave may stay in the **Approved** status for some time. Once it has been posted by the Payroll Department, it will show the status **Posted** and the leave will show on your next pay stub. If there is an issue, the Payroll can instead reject your leave request, and it will need to be resubmitted or canceled.
If there is an issue, your leave may be Canceled or Modified up until the time that it is Posted by the Payroll Department. After that time, you will need to contact your Payroll Representative to see what must be done. If the Leave Request has been modified, you and your supervisor will need to approve it again.
